Software/Web: Photosynth

This is a free Microsoft application you may have heard of. They only recently released it to public. You download Photosynth to your computer, process images on your computer and then upload the Photosynth image map to the Photosynth Website to share with the world.

Essentially, you take many digital images around a location/site, upload images to photosynth and it will connect all of the images for you. This creates a navigable 3D, sort of 3D, image map called a "synth". Once you install the plug-in, you can view Photosynths created by others. Or why not make your own?

Here's a link to my first, mostly successful synth (77% synthy, much better than the 11% synthy of my first attempt).

Now how cool is that?

Music: Itunes 8

Own an Ipod? Use Itunes?

Itunes 8 was recently launched - my favorite feature is "Genius Playlists". Upgrade your Itunes to version 8. After the upgrade, right click on a song in your Itunes library, and select "Start Genius" and an automatic playlist will be generated from your Itunes library.
Here are some "Genius Playlist" playlists generated from my library of music.

note: I find it interesting that Gnarls Barkley figures so prominently in my Genius lists - regardless of song picked... I never listen to his music either. It may be time to yank his album. At least I'm listening to my music collection.

Now How Cool Is That?
